Confusion surrounds Robbie Williams “proposal” (Reuters)

LONDON (Reuters) – British singer Robbie Williams "proposed" to his actress girlfriend, Ayda Field, live on Australian radio on Friday, but his spokesman then said it was a joke.

Adding to the confusion, Williams' mother Jan later told British radio that the 35-year-old star intended to marry Field "in the not-too-distant future."

Robbie Williams pulls out of awards performance (Reuters)

LONDON (Billboard) – Robbie Williams has pulled out of a scheduled appearance at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards.

According to a statement issued Friday by the U.K. singer's spokesperson, the cancellation was "due to a scheduling conflict." The statement went onto say that "all other promotional commitments carry on as planned."
