NARITA, Japan (AP) -- Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle has brought her act to Japan.

The 48-year-old church volunteer who rocketed to fame with her surprising performance on "Britain's Got Talent" arrived at Tokyo's international airport Tuesday to prepare for a guest appearance on Japan's premiere vocal variety show, which will be aired live on New Year's Eve by Japan's public broadcaster, NHK.

TOKYO (Reuters) – Japan's next leader, Yukio Hatoyama, probably never thought a song he recorded 20 years ago would one day fetch a pretty penny on online auction sites.

The vinyl single, "Take Heart - Fly, Dove of Peace", recorded in 1988 when Hatoyama was first elected to parliament, recently sold for 35,000 yen ($375) in an online auction, a Japanese tabloid reported.

TOKYO – A Japanese pop star was released Friday after being detained overnight for allegedly being naked and drunk in a Tokyo park, police said.

Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, a member of hugely popular group SMAP, was arrested Thursday after neighbors complained to police that a drunk man was making a fuss in the park in a posh Tokyo neighborhood.

The United Nations said the London-born Yusuf Islam recorded a rendition of the George Harrison song "The Day the World Gets Round," along with the German bassist and former Beatles collaborator Klaus Voorman.
