Springsteen wants name off royalty lawsuit against NYC bar

NEW YORK (AP) — Bruce Springsteen wants his name off a lawsuit demanding licensing fees from a Manhattan bar where a band played his songs.

A statement on Springsteen’s Web site Thursday said he didn’t know about the lawsuit that was filed Wednesday in federal court and wouldn’t have agreed to be a plaintiff if he had been asked.

LONDON – A grass-roots Facebook campaign has spoiled American Idol mogul Simon Cowell’s Christmas by denying one of his new acts the prestigious Christmas No. 1 spot in Britain.

Thanks to a Facebook campaign that capitalized on growing unhappiness with Cowell’s cookie-cutter approach to pop stardom, the antiestablishment Rage Against the Machine came out ahead of Joe McElderry, winner of Cowell’s popular “X Factor” TV competition.

NEW YORK (AP) — An Argentine diva has been charged with creating a ruckus at a Manhattan restaurant, but the case isn’t likely to take on operatic proportions.

The case against Gabriela Pochinki was adjourned Friday on contemplation of dismissal. That means the misdemeanor disorderly conduct, criminal trespass and obstructing-governme nt charges will be tossed if she stays out of trouble for six months.

Lawsuit against Coldplay over 'Viva La Vida' ends

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Court records show guitarist Joe Satriani and Coldplay have reached an agreement that ends a copyright infringement lawsuit filed over the band’s smash hit “Viva la Vida.”

Satriani sued Coldplay in December, claiming the band copied “substantial, original portions” of his 2004 song, “If I Could Fly.”

Coldplay won a Grammy Award earlier this year for “Viva La Vida.”
