Russell Crowe and Beyonce have emerged as the frontrunners for the lead roles in a remake of classic movie A Star Is Born.

Robert Downey Jr. was attached to the male lead at one point, but now it seems the Gladiator star has taken his place.

Crowe is the new favorite to play an aging, alcoholic musician who mentors and falls in love with a younger female star.

LOS ANGELES – Grammy presentations are under way in Los Angeles, with honors in 100 categories being awarded prior to broadcast ceremonies featuring the nine top trophies.

Notable winners early Sunday afternoon include Michael J. Fox for best spoken world album for “Always Looking Up,” and producer and DJ David Guetta, one of the night’s top nominees, for best remixed recording, non-classical, for his song “When Love Takes Over.”

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Taylor Swift, Beyonce and the Black Eyed Peas will perform at the Grammy Awards in January on a night when they are all expected to go home with an armful of trophies.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Taylor Swift and Beyonce are among the artists set to perform next month at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, it was announced Tuesday.

Other performers include the Black Eyed Peas, Maxwell and country trio Lady Antebellum. The Recording Academy said other performers will be announced later.

Beyonce, a 10-time Grammy winner, has 10 nominations, including record of the year for “Halo,”

HOUSTON (AP) — Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, has filed for divorce from the pop diva’s father and manager, Mathew Knowles. Tina Knowles began legal proceedings Nov. 11, according to documents filed with the Harris County Court Clerk. She launched the House of Dereon clothing line with Beyonce in 2006.

“The decision to end our marriage is an amicable one. We remain friends, parents, and business partners,” the couple said

The omnipresent diva garnered the most Grammy nominations on Thursday with 10 nods, including nominations for album of the year for “I Am … Sasha Fierce,” song of the year for her anthem “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” and record of the year for “Halo.”
