Wyclef Jean — who has been an advocate for his native Haiti since the disaster — was in Miami for those celebrations this week, and understands that the festivities won’t stop because of Haiti’s pain.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Twenty-five years after star-studded anthem “We Are the World” raised millions of dollars to aid famine relief in Africa, celebrities of a different generation were set to gather Monday night to re-record the charity tune to benefit Haiti.

Diddy, Queen Latifah to host BET concert for Haiti

NEW YORK (AP) — Sean “Diddy” Combs, Queen Latifah and Pharrell are set to host a two-hour concert and telethon to benefit Haiti on Feb. 5.

Wyclef Jean, Chris Brown and Lil Wayne will perform.

The concert is titled “SOS Saving OurSelves — Help for Haiti.” It will be held at the American Airlines Arena in Miami and will air live on BET, MTV, VH1 and Centric at 8 p.m. EST.

Haiti telethon raises charity estimate to $61 million (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Organizers for last week's “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon, backed by George Clooney and Haiti-born rapper Wyclef Jean, on Monday raised the estimated amount of money it raised to more than $61 million, to date.

The two-hour telethon, which aired Friday, drew an average audience of 24 million viewers in the United States to watch celebrities performing, telling tales of heroism and answering telephones

Sean Penn Speaks Out While In HaitiActor Sean Penn has spoken out during his visit to earthquake-ravaged Haiti about the “suffering” he has witnessed first-hand.

The star flew to the country on Thursday with former U.S. presidential candidate John Edwards to hand out food and supplies to the survivors of last week’s disaster.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – Haiti’s National Palace lies in ruins, so the boys of Delmas 40 refugee camp built a cardboard substitute.

The roughly 12-foot-wide (3.7-meter-wide) house of military ration boxes tops a ridge above a sprawling tent city near a base for the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne division.
