Company, estate to help cover LA Jackson memorial

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The estate of Michael Jackson and entertainment company AEG have agreed to contribute $1.3 million to help cover public costs related to the pop star’s memorial service last year at Staples Center, officials said.

AEG President Timothy J. Leiweke and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said Friday in a joint statement that $1 million will be provided to the city’s general fund and the rest of the money will go to

ANAHEIM, California (AP) — “Captain EO” and Michael Jackson are returning to Disneyland.

The park says it will show the 1986 Jackson musical film beginning Tuesday and running indefinitely.

On the Disney Parks blog, Disney executive Heather Hust Rivera says the park will show a 70mm print of the 17-minute movie in the Tomorrowland theater, with enhanced sound.

Michael Jackson’s doctor pleads not guilty

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Michael Jackson’s doctor has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of the pop star.

Dr. Conrad Murray, a Houston cardiologist who was with Jackson when he died June 25, entered his plea Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court just hours after he was charged.

He could face up to four years in prison if convicted.

Compensation approved for Jackson estate admins (AP)

LOS ANGELES – Two men administering Michael Jackson’s estate will receive a total of 10 percent of the its profits minus several sizable assets, a judge agreed Wednesday.

Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff approved the compensation for attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain, who have been administering the singer’s estate since shortly after his death on June 25.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Prosecutors plan to charge Michael Jackson’s doctor with manslaughter rather than take the case to a grand jury, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press Tuesday.

Prosecutors will file a criminal complaint against Dr. Conrad Murray, who practices in Houston, instead of taking the case before a grand jury, which is done in private, the official said.

Court disciplines Joe Jackson’s attorney (AP)

LOS ANGELES – Records show an attorney handling Joe Jackson’s bid to receive a monthly stipend from his son’s estate has had his law license placed on probation for two years.

Last week’s decision by the CaliforniaSupreme Court isn’t related to Brian Oxman’s work on the Jackson case. But the attorney will face scrutiny while he argues the Jackson family patriarch should receive more than $15,000 a month.
