LOS ANGELES (AP) — Michael Jackson’s mother and ex-wife time will have time to reach an agreement over who will take care of the singer’s three children.
For the second time, Katherine Jackson and Deborah Rowe joined to seek a delay in a hearing that could decide who gets custody of the pop superstar’s children. A guardianship hearing scheduled for Monday has been delayed for a week, an attorney said Friday.

The government’s drug czar says that Michael Jackson’s death is a wake-up call to the nation about prescription drug abuse.
Gil Kerlikowske, chief of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, says more people are dying in the United States from drug overdoses than from gunshot wounds.
Kerlikowske said Thursday on CBS’ “The Early Show” that parents are the key to addressing the problem of misuse of prescription drugs.
Michael Jackson’s body was “lily white” and emaciated when paramedics arrived to try to save the superstar, who had slipped into a coma at his rented home in Los Angeles on June 25.
The King of Pop was pronounced dead hours later after medics at UCLA Medical Center were unable to revive him - and now reports about his condition just before he passed away are hitting news networks.

Nielsen SoundScan says 800,000 copies of Michael Jackson albums were bought in the U.S. last week — nearly double his sales from the previous week.

More than 2,000 people have attended a candlelight vigil at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland in celebration of the life of Michael Jackson.
Fans left handwritten notes, flowers and teddy bears inside the hall of fame lobby Tuesday night. On the museum plaza, they danced to “Billie Jean” and other Jackson hits.

Officials have released Michael Jackson’s death certificate, but it doesn’t yet list a cause of death.
Public health officials issued the certificate on Tuesday, the same day public and private memorials were held in Los Angeles.

The cause of death is listed as “deferred.” Police and coroner’s officials continue to probe what killed the 50-year-old singer on June 25.
His occupation is listed as a musician and the information provided for the document was given by Jackson’s sister, La Toya. She was one of several family members who rushed to the hospital where Jackson was pronounced dead.
The document doesn’t state where Jackson will buried.
