Veteran actor William Shatner is returning to the small screen in a new comedy based on one man’s controversial Twitter account. The former Star Trek actor has signed up to appear in a TV pilot based on S**t My Dad Says, which has turned creator Justin Halpern into an internet sensation since he debuted the blog in August.

Shatner will play a character based on Halpern’s larger-than-life father, whose obscene rants are featured in Halpern’s ‘tweets’.

BOSTON – A rap star says former Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney first touched him — and not the other way around — during a confrontation aboard a taxiing Air Canada flight.

Sky Blu says in a video on TMZ.com he was trying to go to sleep when he leaned his seat back on a Vancouver-to-Los Angeles flight Monday. He says Romney loudly told him to straighten it and grabbed his shoulder.

Russell Crowe and Beyonce have emerged as the frontrunners for the lead roles in a remake of classic movie A Star Is Born.

Robert Downey Jr. was attached to the male lead at one point, but now it seems the Gladiator star has taken his place.

Crowe is the new favorite to play an aging, alcoholic musician who mentors and falls in love with a younger female star.

The film was a big screen hit in the 1930s and it has already been reworked twice, with Judy Garland (more…)

Up-and-coming actress Alexandra Daddario, 23, stars in the new film Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. We think she’s a star in the making, and she looks pretty darn good in a strapless black and white asymmetrical gown at the film’s premiere in New York City last night. More pics after the jump!

Paul McCartney will be the only solo Beatle not to be among the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame when Ringo Starr is honored on Monday. The drummer will unveil the 2,401st star on the Walk of Fame outside the fabled Capitol Records Building, where George Harrison and John Lennon already have pavement honors.

The Fab Four also have a band star on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea, but McCartney has never claimed his honor.

NEW YORK – Grammy Award-winning singers Alicia Keys and Shakira will perform during halftime of the NBA All-Star game.

The league also announced Tuesday that Usher will perform at the Feb. 14 game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Keys will sing her hits “No One” and “Empire State of Mind,” plus “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart.” Shakira’s performance will include “She Wolf” and “Give It Up To Me.”

Actress Lucy Lawless is calling on movie bosses to adapt Xena: Warrior Princess for the big screen - because she fears fans will lose interest in the fantasy series if it’s revived for TV.

The New Zealand-born star is best known for playing the warrior pin-up in the cult program, which she is desperate to see brought back to life as a feature film.

ALAMEDA, California – Police are investigating the theft of a Grammy-nominated opera singer’s family heirlooms that they say were stolen and sold at a Northern California auction house.

Alameda police Detective Craig Vreeland says singer Frederica von Stade is trying to recover more than $50,000 worth of antique china, wall sconces and other items sold at Michaan’s Auctions.
